#10 Walt Disney

When I was a kid, I always wanted to go to Disney world. I only heard about the wonders that lied beyond the gates. Rides, fireworks, and princesses were all I wanted at seven years old. However, I never actually knew what Disney world was. The closest I was able to get to Disney was when the castle came up on a Disney movie. When looking closer at the screen, Disney wasn’t the only name. In fact, Walt Disney took up the whole bottom screen. Who was this Walt Disney?

I later asked my parents and did some research on Walt Disney. I found out that Walt did not have life all peachy in the beginning. Actually, Mr. Disney had to fight to make what he has today. In the beginning of his career he worked at a newspaper. However, in 1919, he was fired for having a “lack of imagination and had no good ideas.” Then he had the idea to start a cartoonist company in 1920. This ended quickly. Mr. Disney did not stop there. He kept going and landed his own studio which was successful in paying employees. Once again, the studio went in debt and ended up bankrupt. After that, he packed his bags and went to Hollywood.

In Hollywood, Walt created Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. It was a hit! However, Walt was only receiving 20% on his films. Then the producer of the show stole his character and animation crew. Most individuals would stop and give up there. Walt Disney did not stop but instead created the best cartoon character ever. Many people said that this character would scare women for being a huge mouse, but It did just the opposite. Mickey Mouse took storm and everyone loved him. Today, Walt Disney’s pictures still live on.  Mickey Mouse is still a leader in the kids world. For example, Mickey Mouse Club House was created to teach children.

Walt Disney faced a lot when trying to become successful. There is much to learn from Disney himself. One of my favorite lessons is to not give up when faced with a challenge. If there is something that someone wants, then go get it. Yes, there is going to be obstacle in the way. However, it depends how individuals face these obstacles that matter. In memory of Walt Disney, Disney world is one of the greatest places on earth (for a kid).

#9 Golden Voice

Ted Williams was a man that started off at a radio station. This was until he went to jail at the age of 21. The act of going to jail did not end there. Frequently, Ted would get caught up in trouble. Some of his worst behavior was stealing and using drugs. After stealing from his family, the family disowned him. To make things worse, Ted was homeless after getting out of jail. Crack was a temptation that was hard to beat when getting out of jail. There were times when Ted should have over dosed on drugs. However, at the age of 51 his life changed.

On a street corner begging for money, Ted was found by a Columbus dispatch reporter. The reporter asked him to share his beautiful voice with the world. Teds voice gracefully sang into the ears of anyone who was listening. The viewers of the tv station loved Ted Williams voice. Ted instantly because famous. A homeless man was taking the headlines by storm. His voice landed him a job for Kraft Mac and Cheese. Later on, he published a book called A Golden Voice. After doing a great job on Kraft Mac and Cheese, Pepsi asked him to do a new ad. Then for a constant job Ted started working for the same radio station. Now, he is found talking about religion on that same radio station.

Most individuals would think Ted hit his peak. However, Ted had trouble managing his money. Ted made bad business decisions and was still addicted to his old ways. He found himself still drinking and feeling depressed. With his new fame, Ted was able to overcome these addictions. Mr. Williams has now been sober for 4 years. When going through these rough times Ted would rely on pray. His belief in faith has been strong and shown him the path.

Today, Ted lives in Columbus in a house. He has a vehicle and his happy to share his life with someone else. Williams has big dreams to do voice overs for Disney one day. On his free time, Ted can be found helping at the homeless shelter. He has been able to set up a nonprofit organization that aids the homeless.  At the shelter individuals are inspired by Ted because he has been at his bottom and rose above it.  Ted inspires me by not giving up on your dreams. I see a man that has been at bottom of an abyss and found a way to crawl out. He has found a way to conquer his demons and found the light.

#*8 No Inspiration at all

Mike was a loser. Someone that did nothing in life. When going to the human book library, I had the option to talk to many individuals. Each one of them going through different events in life. I guess I was supposed to be inspired through their story. Instead, I felt more depressed listening to them.

First of all, I met mike. Mike was labeled a journalist. I think of a journalist that would go on FM radio and talk about sports. Or travel with National Geographic, writing stories about a new species of monkeys. Nope, Mike was different. Mike sat there awkwardly waiting for us to talk first. Then a brave soul asked how’s being a journalist? He explained how he was a journalist for an AM radio station. I didn’t even know AM still existed. I only hear AM radio when accidentally hitting the wrong button to change the station. Even then, all I hear is aliens trying to get into my radio when on AM. Furthermore, Mike talked about his dreams. National Geographic was his goal. However, he settled and now writes stories about politics. I asked Mike if he writes a Blog or anything to get his name out there. He answered with a no. Then he went on explaining how after a long day at work he would get tired of writing. Then that was the end of our conversation. Mike was a loser. Mike was someone who gave up on his dream and settled for some lame radio station. Mike gave me no inspiration at all.

The next individual I met was in a car accident. She seemed nice and I felt sorry for what happened to her. She went on explaining her story. A terrible car accident her senior year end her in a coma. Now, she cannot drive and has a limp. To make things worse, she did not want to try to get better. There was a chance that she could walk without a limp. However, she felt trying something that was not 100% going to work was not worth the try. I felt that she should at least try something to help even though it might not help in the long run. In the end, it might serve a purpose. I would at least take a chance on something to help my physical ability. Through the whole situation, I felt depressed. Everyone was going through a hard time and could not help themselves. That’s why I left 30 mins early.
