#10 Walt Disney

When I was a kid, I always wanted to go to Disney world. I only heard about the wonders that lied beyond the gates. Rides, fireworks, and princesses were all I wanted at seven years old. However, I never actually knew what Disney world was. The closest I was able to get to Disney was when the castle came up on a Disney movie. When looking closer at the screen, Disney wasn’t the only name. In fact, Walt Disney took up the whole bottom screen. Who was this Walt Disney?

I later asked my parents and did some research on Walt Disney. I found out that Walt did not have life all peachy in the beginning. Actually, Mr. Disney had to fight to make what he has today. In the beginning of his career he worked at a newspaper. However, in 1919, he was fired for having a “lack of imagination and had no good ideas.” Then he had the idea to start a cartoonist company in 1920. This ended quickly. Mr. Disney did not stop there. He kept going and landed his own studio which was successful in paying employees. Once again, the studio went in debt and ended up bankrupt. After that, he packed his bags and went to Hollywood.

In Hollywood, Walt created Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. It was a hit! However, Walt was only receiving 20% on his films. Then the producer of the show stole his character and animation crew. Most individuals would stop and give up there. Walt Disney did not stop but instead created the best cartoon character ever. Many people said that this character would scare women for being a huge mouse, but It did just the opposite. Mickey Mouse took storm and everyone loved him. Today, Walt Disney’s pictures still live on.  Mickey Mouse is still a leader in the kids world. For example, Mickey Mouse Club House was created to teach children.

Walt Disney faced a lot when trying to become successful. There is much to learn from Disney himself. One of my favorite lessons is to not give up when faced with a challenge. If there is something that someone wants, then go get it. Yes, there is going to be obstacle in the way. However, it depends how individuals face these obstacles that matter. In memory of Walt Disney, Disney world is one of the greatest places on earth (for a kid).
